KEENE, N.H. -- The Bates College offense came alive Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats swept away host-Keene State College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21), to close out a tri-match hosted by the Owls
The Bobcats floored 37 kills as a team in the victory, led by
Ami Evans and her match-high 13 kills.
Chrissy Chu, who came into the season having never posted a double-double during her collegiate career, now has four over her last six outings as the junior setter distributed 28 assists and settled 10 digs in the win.
Eden Lorin was stellar from the service area as the first-year landed four aces and gathered nine digs.
Sofia Castiglioni smashed six kills, complemented by the first-year's impressive eight blocking assists.
In the opener, it would be a rematch of sorts between the Bobcats and Western Connecticut State University as the two program's initially squared off two weeks ago in Alumni Gym as part of the Bates "First Serve" Classic.
As they did during their first matchup on Sept. 8, the Wolves pushed past the Bobcats by a 3-0 score, winning the contest 25-11, 25-20, and 25-23.
Katie Kortekaas, who had seven kills in the win over Keene State, topped Bates with eight kills in the match vs. WestConn.
The garnet and white returns to campus with a 3-7 record after Saturday's split. Bates will next compete on Friday with a NESCAC visit to Trinity College (Hartford, Conn.). First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
