DEDHAM, Mass. -- Senior Derek Shen set another personal record in the 100 meters and placed fourth out of 28 competitors to lead the Bates men's track and field team Friday and Saturday at the Open New England Championships.

Meet Highlights

• Shen (Bellevue, Wash.) placed seventh in the prelims on Friday, earning a spot in the finals with his 100-meter dash time of 10.80 seconds, a new personal record. Then he cut more time on Saturday, placing fourth in the final in a wind-aided time of 10.74 seconds. Shen currently ranks third all-time at Bates in the event. 
• Junior Jacob Goff (Scarborough, Maine) set a new personal record in the shot put, placing 12th with a top heave of 50-11.5 (15.53m). Goff currently ranks 40th in the country in the shot put.
• The Bates 4x100 relay team of Shen, sophomore Kevin O'Connor (Milford, Mass.), sophomore Truman Williams (Montclair, N.J.), and senior captain Colby Stakun-Pickering (Wellesley, Mass.) recorded a time of 42.34 seconds, fourth fastest in Bates history. 

Select Bobcats will compete at the MIT Final Qualifier this Thursday at 4pm.
