Will Phillips shot a 79 to pace the Bates men's golf team and finish tied for 20th overall Saturday at the Williams Spring Invitational, held at Taconic Golf Club.
Phillips (Portland, Ore.) birdied holes one, 12, and 17 to finish just three strokes back of a top-10 finish. Meanwhile, first-year
Henry Ehrlich (Portland, Ore.) finished with an 80, one stroke back of Phillips and tied for 24th overall.
The Bobcats placed seventh out of nine teams with a total score of 324, two strokes ahead of rival Bowdoin. Sunday's action was canceled due to unplayable weather.
Bates hosts the NESCAC Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Martindale Country Club.
