WELLESLEY, Mass. -- First-year
Ruby Haylock shot a 78 Saturday at the Wellesley Tri-Match, good for second place out of 18 competitors to pace the Bates women's golf team in their first tournament of the spring.
The Bobcats took on Wellesley and Bowdoin at Nehoiden Golf Club and placed second with a team score of 325, just five strokes back of the Polar Bears and five strokes ahead of the Blue.
Haylock (Hartford, Maine) was six over par, and three strokes back of medalist winner Kate MacVicar of Wellesley.
Junior
Alex Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) also impressed, finishing in a tie for third at 79. Sophomore
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) landed in the top 10 as well, tying for seventh with an 81.
The Bobcats are back in action this Saturday and Sunday at Amherst.
