LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates women's tennis snapped its three-match slide in style Wednesday night as the Bobcats rolled visiting Mount Holyoke College, 9-0, in Merrill Gymnasium.
The evening kicked off with a perfect 3-0 performance in doubles play for the garnet and white.
Joanna Atwater (Sr.-Short Hills, N.J.) and
Ally Friedman (Jr.-East Hampton, N.Y.)Â cruised to an 8-1 victory (vs. Chai/Kaur)Â at No. 1 while
Laura Littlefield (Sr.-Ellicott City, Md.)Â and
Grace Kennedy (Sr.-New York, N.Y.) authored an 8-3 finish (vs. Kiran/Smith)Â in the No. 2 position.
Ava Lyon (So.-Naples, Fla.)Â and
Isabella Saul (Fy.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished tandem competition with an 8-2 win (vs. Bagley/Rha) at No. 3.
The garnet and white proceeded to coast past the Lyons in singles, dropping only nine total sets over six matches:

With the win, Bates moves to 3-5 overall. The Lyons drop to 2-2 with the setback.
The Bobcats return to the court this Saturday with another non-conference home match, this time vs. #37 Wellesley College. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Merrill Gymnasium.
