STANDISH, Maine -- Bates College women's lacrosse rebounded from Saturday's setback vs. #19 Trinity College in emphatic fashion as the Bobcats, thanks to a combined 10 goals from
Caroline Taggart (So.-Concord, Mass.) and
Annie Lowenstein (So.-Yarmouth, Maine), scored a 15-9 non-conference road win Monday at Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
With the game tied at 7-7 with 6:14 remaining in the second period of action,
Maddy Roelofs (Jr.-Rye, N.Y.) put the Bobcats ahead courtesy of the junior's fifth tally of the year with 0:40 remaining before the break.
The Bates offense unleashed the fury in the second stanza, collecting the lone three goals of the third frame to pad its cushion at 11-7. St. Joe's (3-2) accounted for two of the first three tallies of the fourth quarter to make the score 12-9 'Cats before the garnet and white sealed the victory by sending in the game's final three goals over the last 6:55 of action.
Taggart topped all players with her career-best six goals on the night. Lowenstein also established a new career high-water mark with her four goals. Both players added an assist apiece in the triumph. The first-year duo of
Caroline Keating (Rye, N.Y.) and
Lauren Wong (Walpole, Mass.) each netted two goals for the Bobcats.
The road team edged the host-Monks in the shot column, 31-25, while owning a 25-18 advantage on frame.
Cammie Lavoie (Sr.-Eppings, N.H.) earned the win in net for the Bobcats, registering five saves in 30:00 of action.
Avery Lehman (So.-Portsmouth, N.H.) played the entire second half, pocketing four saves in her half-hour of competition.
Bates (3-3) now returns to campus to host Plymouth State University Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. on Garcelon Field.
