HARTFORD, Conn. -- Bates College men's basketball kicked off its final road trip of the 2022-23 campaign Friday night with a visit to NESCAC foe, Trinity College. The host-Bantams cruised to an 82-62 victory over the Bobcats, sending the garnet and white to a sixth-straight setback.
Trailing 22-9 at the 12:02 mark of the first half, Bates outscored Trinity by a 24-14 margin the rest of the stanza, entering intermission down by just three at 36-33. The Bantams opened the second with an 8-0 spurt to go ahead by 11 (44-33) 2:51 into the session. A subsequent 8-3 run put the Trinity surplus at 52-36 at 14:30 before Bates countered with an 8-0 answer of its own to slice its deficit in half at 52-44.
The home team proceeded to put the contest out of reach for its guest as the Bantams brought the bravado with a 16-5 jolt to go up by a healthy 68-49 lead with 7:55 to go, essentially dissipating all remaining drama on the evening.
Despite the result,
Elliott Cravitz (Denver, Colo.) enjoyed his sixth double-digit scoring performance of the year as the first-year pocketed 13 points (and drained a trio of three-pointers) in 24 total minutes for the Bobcats.
Brady Coyne (Fy.-Falmouth, Maine) and
Jahmir Primer (So.-Hempstead, N.Y.) also hit for three three-pointers apiece, providing nine points each in the effort.
Ben Callahan-Gold authored a double-double for the victors, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds (four steals) in 27 total minutes. Jarrel Okorougo hit for 12 points in just 13 minutes off the bench for the Bantams (16-7, 4-5 NESCAC). Trevor McDonald contributed eight points and nine boards in his 26 minutes.
Bates (7-16, 1-8 CACC) closes out the regular season Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with a NESCACÂ visit to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.Â
