Story Links

Lewiston, Maine (Russell Street Track & Field) - #17 Middlebury College trekked to Bates College Sunday afternoon where the Panthers pulled off a 2-0 road win over the Bobcats in NESCAC women's soccer action.

Cate Woolsey (So.-New York, N.Y.) initially put the visitors on the board at the 43:01 mark in the first half when the sophomore headed a Fanny Lodge (Jr.-Cambridge, Mass.) feed off a Bates' defender and into the back of the net for her second score of the season.

Abby Ward (So.-Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) added an insurance tally for the Panthers (6-2, 2-2 NESCAC) as she deposited a helper from Ella Gagnon (Jr.-Belmont, Mass.) just inside the left post at 51:46.

The victors owned a decisive 21-9 advantage when it came to shots (10-2 on frame). Middlebury's Lucy VanNewkirk (So.-Seattle, Wash.) improved to a perfect 3-0 for the Panthers with two saves over her 90:00.

Samantha Bunar (Fy.-Lynnfield, Mass.) collected eight saves in a complete-game performance for the Bobcats (3-4, 0-4 NESCAC).
