Ally Friedman advanced to the Doubles quarterfinals, highlighting Saturday's action at the ITA Regional Championships for the Bates women's tennis team.
Atwater (Short Hills, N.J.) and Friedman (East Hampton, N.Y.) defeated the Wesleyan duo of Renna Mohsen-Breen and Katie Fleischman in the round of 16 Saturday morning by a count of 8-5 before falling 8-1 in the quarterfinals to the eighth-seeded team of Cara Hung and Jamilah Karah. Friedman fell in the "A" Singles round of 16 by a count of 6-4, 6-1 to Wesleyan's Sarah Younberg.
In the "B" Singles draw, senior captain
Laura Littlefield (Ellicott City, Md.) beat Babson's Marianna Campos by a count of 8-7 (2) in the round of 16 before bowing out in the quarterfinals to Trinity's Angelina Shylsyna, 8-4.
The women's tennis team is back in action on Saturday, October 15 when the Bobcats host Endicott at 2pm.
