An ace for Ehrlich highlights first round of Bowdoin Invitational for men's golf

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- First-year Henry Ehrlich recorded his first career hole-in-one to highlight the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational for the Bates men's golf team.

On hole five at Brunswick Golf Club, Ehrlich (Portland, Oregon) pured his gap wedge from 112 yards out for the ace. He added two birdies later in the round for a 79, the best round of the day for the Bobcats and tied for 26th out of 80 competitors overall.

Junior Paul Detre (Morristown, N.J.) birdied the third hole and finished just one stroke back of Ehrlich, in a tie for 33rd place.

As a team, the Bobcats shot a 329, tied with Thomas College for 11th place out of 15 schools through one round.

The Bowdoin Invitational concludes Sunday, with tee times starting at 9am.
