BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bates women's golf juniors
Alex Voight-Shelley and
Grace Acton both shot a 79, which was good for a tie for fourth place out of 35 competitors Sunday at the State of Maine Invitational, hosted by Bowdoin at Brunswick Golf Club.
Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) recorded 12 pars on the day while Acton (Harvard, Mass.) birdied the 13th hole and finished with 11 pars, breaking 80 for the first time in her collegiate career.
First-year
Ruby Haylock (Hartford, Maine) finished two strokes back of Voight-Shelley and Acton with an 81, good for a tie for 11th place. Sophomore
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) finished tied for 13th place with an 82.
The Bobcats shot 321 as a team, good for fourth place, seven strokes behind team champion Wellesley and only three strokes behind third-place Bowdoin.
Bates is back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Wesleyan Fall Invitational, hosted by Lyman Orchards Golf Club.
