AMHERST, Mass. -- Bates women's golf sophomore
Alex Voight-Shelley finished 18th out of 24 competitors at the two-day NESCAC Championships.
The Bobcats were not competing as a team at the event, sending three individuals who qualified in the fall. Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) improved by three strokes on Sunday with an 84, finishing with a two-day score of 171.
First-year
Nerea Barranco Aramburu (Zarautz, Spain) led the Bobcats on day one with the lowest round of the tournament for Bates, firing an 81. She finished two strokes back of Voight-Shelley overall, in 19th place with a two-day score of 173.
First-year
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) qualified for NESCACs as well and placed 20th over the weekend, just one stroke back of Barranco Aramburu.
The future is bright for the Bates women's golf team as almost the entire squad this year was made up of first-years and sophomores, with no seniors. The NESCAC Championships mark the final tournament of the year for the Bobcats.
