WILTON, N.Y. -- The Bates men's tennis team won a pair of doubles matches in a 7-2 loss at Skidmore Thursday afternoon.
Junior captain
Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine) and sophomore
Alexander Gujarathi (Plymouth, Mass.) teamed up at No. 1 doubles and earned an 8-4 win over the Skidmore duo of Sergiu Celebidachi and John Rado. Meanwhile, sophomore
Nikesh Desai (Hopkinton, Mass.) and first-year
Paul Zhou (Beijing, China) teamed up at No. 3 doubles to defeat Connor Biernat and Tristan Thiebaut by a count of 8-6.Â
Up 2-1 after doubles play, the home team flipped the script on the Bobcats (2-5) in singles play, winning all six matches. Gujarathi played very well at No. 2 singles, taking the first set before falling 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. Skidmore (3-6) won the other singles matches in straight sets .
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, April 2 at Connecticut College. The match gets underway at 10am.Â
