LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Bates men's tennis team hung with Division II Florida Southern Saturday in a 7-0 loss to the Mocs.
The Bobcats (0-2) got a strong performance at No. 3 doubles from junior captain
Cameron Kania (Middlefield, Conn.) and first-year
Paul Zhou (Beijing, China), as the duo eventually fell 7-5 to Florida Southern's Brian Pham and Hikaru Nagosh.
The Mocs (2-3) had to battle to win in multiple singles matches as well. Junior captain
Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine) Chris Fok Kow all he could handle in the second set, falling at No. 2 singles 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
Meanwhile, sophomore
Alexander Gujarathi (Plymouth, Mass.) hung with his opponent at No. 4 singles in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-1.
Bates finally gets to play a fellow Division III school when the Bobcats host Endicott next Sunday, March 6, at 12pm.
