BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates men's track and field team won three events and set a number of personal records Saturday at the Bowdoin Invitational.
Junior
Liam Byrne (Ridgefield, Conn.) won the weight throw with a personal record heave of 54-11.25 and took second in the shot put with a personal record of 49-10 to teammate sophomore
Jacob Goff (Scarborough, Maine). Goff's first throw of 50-1.75 was enough for the victory.Â

Daniel Maass (Manhasset, N.Y.), first-year
Aidan Rooney (Bay Shore, N.Y.), first-year
Krishna Kakani (Monroe, N.J.), and first-year
Cam Stathos (Wellesley, Mass.) won their race in 8:18.60. Rooney took second in the 800 meters as an individual, racing to the finish in 1:57.91.
Junior
Colby Stakun-Pickering (Wellesley, Mass.) set a personal record in the 60-meter dash, taking third in 7.13 seconds. His time was a photo finish with classmate
Derek Shen (Bellevue, Wash.), who also set a personal record in the event. Stakun-Pickering turned in a strong performance in the 200 meters, placing second in 22.93.
Junior
Owen Glover (Andover, Mass.) took second in the 600 meters with a personal record time of 1:24.51. First-year
Andrew Mottur (Rumford, R.I.) placed fourth in the 3,000 meters in a personal record time of 9:11.64.
Senior
Chidubem Umeh (Randolph, Mass.) set personal records in the high jump, where he took fifth with a leap of 5-8.75, the shot put (sixth, 41-11.25), the long jump (11th, 19-11.5) and the 60-meter dash (11th, 7.34).Â
Senior captain
Charlie Hansen (Washington, D.C.) set a personal record in the pole vault at 14-1.25, good for fifth place.
The Bowdoin Invitational was a non-scoring meet. Bates now gears up for the New England Division III Indoor Championships, taking place next Friday and Saturday at Middlebury.
