Sophie Spolter recorded a nontraditional double-double and the Bates women's basketball team defeated Medgar Evers College by a score of 89-36 Sunday afternoon to wrap up an undefeated weekend at the 39th annual EC Tip-Off Classic.
The 53-point margin of victory is the largest for the Bobcats (2-1) against an NCAA Division III opponent since Bates defeated Thomas College by 65 points in 2011.
Spolter (Blacklick, Ohio) tallied 11 points and 10 steals for her first collegiate double-double. She nearly finished with a quadruple-double, recording nine rebounds and eight assists on the afternoon.

Alyson Kennedy (Oklahoma City, Okla.) paced a balanced scoring effort from Bates with 12 points on 5-8 shooting. Senior captain
Meghan Graff (South Portland, Maine) added 11 points on 5-8 shooting and two steals. First-year
Danielle Adams (Southborough, Mass.) chipped in 10 points on 4-8 shooting.
The Bobcats opened the game on a 9-0 run and never trailed the Cougars (1-4) in the contest. Bates led 26-4 after the first quarter. Kennedy scored seven of her 12 points in the opening 10 minutes of action.
Sheily Quezada led the Cougars, tallying a double-double with a game-high 15 points on 7-16 shooting and 12 rebounds.
Bates is back in action this Tuesday when the Bobcats visit the University of Southern Maine. Tip is set for 5:30pm.
