Bates Volleyball Takes on Pair of Nationally-Ranked Foes in Saturday Tri-Match at Tufts

Medford, Mass. - Bates College volleyball suffered a pair of 3-0 setbacks Saturday as the Bobcats dropped decisions to nationally-ranked Tufts University and Hope College (Mich.) in NCAA Division III action.

The garnet-and-white opened the afternoon with a straight-set loss of 25-10, 25-18, 25-11 to the #24 Jumbos (10-4, 5-1 NESCAC) in a conference contest before losing to the #14 Flying Dutch (15-4) by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-17.

In the opener, Bella Lomet (Fy.-Burbank, Calif.) paced the Bobcat offense with her season-high seven kills. Julia Neumann (So.-Norwell, Mass.) followed with four kills while topping the Bates' front line with four blocks.

Emma Eide (Jr.-Ramsey, N.J.) provided three kills, nine digs, and 12 assists. Ellie Asada (Fy.-Honolulu, Hawaii) added 12 digs.

It would be Lomet leading the way again for Bates in nightcap as the first-year finished with five kills vs. Hope. Katie Kortekaas (So.-Manhattan Beach, Calif.) followed with four kills while Ami Evans (Fy.-Honolulu, Hawaii) contributed a quartet of kills and assists.

Eide added 15 more helpers in game two. Asada settled 14 digs for the Bobcats (4-9, 0-6 NESCAC).

Bates heads back to campus as the garnet and white prepares to host Saint Joseph's College (7-14) in Alumni Gym. The non-conference match begins at 7:00 p.m.
