LEWISTON, Maine -- Junior captain
Paige Cote contributed to
all three goals and the No. 14 nationally ranked Bates field hockey team cruised to a 3-0 win over the University of New England Tuesday afternoon at Campus Ave. Field.
Cote (Auburn, Maine) assisted on a pair of goals and scored one of her own in the win. She leads the team in points with 16 on the season.
The Bobcats (6-4) got on the board in the 24th minute when they took advantage of a penalty corner. Junior
Kami Lambert (Augusta, Maine) delivered the insert directly to Cote on the right side of the shooting circle. She ripped a shot that her younger sister sophomore
Anna Cote (Auburn, Maine) deflected in to the top right corner of the cage for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The younger Cote helped set up the next goal for Bates. In the 25th minute, she intercepted a pass by the Nor'easters and got the ball to sophomore
Maria Femia (Canton, Mass.), who turned and fired a shot across the cage to the right corner where
Paige Cote redirected it in for her fourth goal of the season.
Bates led 2-0 at halftime and added an insurance tally in the third quarter.

Ella Blum (South Salem, N.Y.) and Blum was able to score amidst a crowd around the cage for her fourth goal of the season.
The Bobcats tallied 22 shots, with 14 on goal. They held UNE (5-6) to one shot, with none on goal. Bates earned 10 penalty corners to UNE's one.
Lindsay Pych made nine saves for the visitors in 45 minutes and Dawn DeWeese-Moss made a pair in the final 15 minutes of action.
The Bobcats visit No. 18 nationally ranked Hamilton this Saturday for a NESCAC contest that gets underway at 11am.
