NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Sophomore
Abby Alter scored her second goal in as many games and the Bates women's soccer team fought Connecticut College to a 1-1 draw Saturday morning in NESCAC action.
The host Camels (7-5-2, 3-4-2 NESCAC) got on the board first, scoring a goal in the opening minute of action. Mya Johnson's unassisted tally put the Camels up 1-0 but the Bobcats (5-6-3, 1-5-3 NESCAC) responded with a strong defensive effort the rest of the contest.
Bates held the hosts to just four shots on goal while the Bobcats forced Camel keeper Sarah Hall to make seven saves. Sophomore
Ruby Reimann (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) played all 90 minutes between the pipes for Bates and made three saves.
The Bobcats tallied the equalizer in the 74th minute. Senior captain
Joanna Cloutier (Portland, Ore.) led an all-out attack on the goal and found Alter (Washington, D.C.), who beat the goalkeeper for a wide open finish at the net, tying the score at one.
It's Alter's second collegiate goal, she also scored last Monday in a win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
The Bobcats have now tied or won four of their last five matches. Bates is back in action Tuesday for the season finale when the Bobcats visit Colby for a match that gets underway at 3pm.
