New London, Conn. - A trio of second-half goals put Connecticut College over the hump vs. Bates Saturday as the Camels closed out the Bobcats, 4-1, in men's soccer action.
Connecticut College (7-4-3, 3-4-2 NESCAC) opened the match with a 2-0 cushion, courtesy of goals from Augie Djerdjaj (Sr.-Mahopac, N.Y.) and Jack Marvel (Jr.-Marion, Mass.) at 21:14 and 47:43, respectively.
Alec Szwarcewicz (Sr.-Newton, Mass.) cut the Bates' deficit to 2-1 at 55:22 as the senior sent in his team-leading fifth tally of the season.
The Camels proceeded to put the match out of reach with goals from Alessandro Horvath Diano (Jr.-New Haven, Conn.) (57:39) and Gaven Vanden Berg (Fy.-Lake Forest Park, Wash.) (77:08). Connecticut College out-shot the Bobcats by a margin of 15-8 with a 7-4 advantage on frame.
Peter Silvester (So.-Smiths Parish, Bermuda) collected the goalkeeping victory for the home team, recording three saves in 81:45 of action.
Nico Hessel (Fy.-Brattleboro, Vt.) also grabbed three saves in 90:00 for the Bobcats.
The garnet and white (5-5-4, 1-5-3 NESCAC) concludes the 2022 regular season Tuesday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. visit to in-state conference rival, Colby College.
