Middlebury, Vt. - Bates College closed out a weekend of NESCAC women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 road loss at conference foe, Middlebury College.
The Panthers dismissed the visiting Bobcats in straight-set fashion with scores of 25-17, 26-24, and 25-12. The home team, winners of three straight, improve to 10-7 on the year (4-4 NESCAC). Bates still seeks its first win vs. a conference foe at 0-8 (5-11 overall).
Julia Neumann (So.-Norwell, Mass.) and
Katie Kortekaas (So.-Manhattan Beach, Calif.) led the way for the Bates' offense with five and four kills, respectively.
Emma Eide (Jr.-Ramsey, N.J.) did a majority of the set-up, pacing the squad with her 14 assists.
The Bobcats kept busy on the back line with three players recording 10 or more digs.
Kate Hansen (So.-Menlo Park, Calif.) settled 10 digs, complemented by four service aces on the day.
Alyssa Lowther (So.-Wyckoff, N.J.) floored a match-high five aces, to go along wither her team-best 12 digs.
Ellie Asada (Fy.-Honolulu, Hawaii) accounted for 10 digs for the garnet and white.
Bates heads back to campus in time to host Bowdoin College this Tuesday evening in Alumni Gym. The NESCAC clash is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
