BREWSTER, Mass. -- Junior
Alex Voight-Shelley finished in a tie for 10th out of 57 competitors to pace the Bates women's golf team at the NEIGA Championship, held Saturday and Sunday at The Captains Course on Cape Cod.
The Bobcats finished fifth out of 11 schools in the field with a team score of 643, 10 strokes ahead of sixth-place Bowdoin.
Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) shot a 77 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday, good for a two-day score of 155, 11 strokes back of medalist Victoria Kim of Williams. The Ephs won the tournament as a team with a 609.
Sophomore
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) shot an 80 on Saturday and improved by two strokes on Sunday, shooting a 78 to finish in tie for 14th place and just three strokes back of Voight-Shelley. The Bobcats also had two other top-25 performances with first-year
Ruby Haylock (Hartford, Maine) and junior
Grace Acton (Harvard, Mass.) both finishing with a two-day score of 165.
The NEIGA Championship marks the final tournament of the fall for the Bobcats. Voight-Shelley and Haylock will both compete as individuals in the spring at the NESCAC Championship.
