MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Sophomore
Alex Voight-Shelley tied for 27th out of 68 competitors to lead the Bates women's golf team to a seventh place finish at the two-day George Phinney Golf Classic.
Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) shot a 85 on Saturday and followed that up with a team-best 81 on Sunday to pace Bates at the The Ralph Myhre Golf Course. Two other Bobcats also placed in the top 40, with first-year
Nerea Barranco Aramburu (Zarutz, Spain) shooting back-to-back rounds of 85 to finish in a tie for 35th. First-year
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) finished with an 87 on Saturday and an 85 on Sunday, good for a tie for 39th.
The Bobcats combined to shoot a team score of 693, eight strokes ahead of eighth place Middlebury. Williams finished in first place with a team score of 620.
Bates women's golf returns to action Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday Oct. 3 when the Bobcats travel to Taconic Golf Club for the Williams Invitational.
