Parmelee scores first collegiate goal in women's soccer's 4-1 loss to Hamilton

LEWISTON, Maine -- Hyla Mosher scored a pair of goals to lead Hamilton to a 4-1 win over the Bates women's soccer team Saturday morning at Russell Street Field in the NESCAC opener for the Bobcats.

Bates (1-1-0, 0-1-0 NESCAC) fell behind 3-0 but got on the board in the 72nd minute.

First-year Ellie Tyska (Natick, Mass.) delivered a ball from midfield that junior Addy Armah (Accra, Ghana) chased down on the goal line, beating the keeper in the process. She was able to keep the ball in play and delivered a perfect cross to her left, finding the foot of sophomore Maeve Parmelee (Pelham, N.Y.) for the latter's first collegiate goal.

The match was scoreless for the first 32 minutes of action. Bates had a couple early chances against the Continentals (1-0-1, 1-0-1 NESCAC) but Hamilton goalkeeper Caity Smith denied counterattack attempts from juniors Courtney Gray (Belmont, Mass.) and Elizabeth Patrick (Ipswich, Mass.) in the 12th minute of action.

Senior goalkeeper Kat Nuckols (Los Angeles) made some excellent saves of her own to start the match, keeping Hamilton off the scoreboard until Rylie Mutton delivered a cross to Mosher who headed it home for the go-ahead tally in the 33rd minute. A little more than two minutes later, Mutton scored a goal of her own on a terrific set piece. She took a direct kick from about 20-25 yards out and lofted it over everyone, going top shelf for the 2-0 lead.

Hamilton led 2-0 at the half and a header from Frankie Lilly on an assist from Erin Rayhill put them up 3-0 in the 50th minute of action.

Bates cut the lead to two before Mosher scored her second goal of the match, once again on a header, this time with an assist to Olivia Zubarik in the 88th minute. Three of Hamilton's four goals on the afternoon came via headers.

Nuckols finished with six saves for Bates while Smith and Zoe Katz combined for five saves for Hamilton.

Hamilton finished with 17 shots (10 on goal) and Bates tallied 10 shots (six on goal).

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday at 7pm when they visit Husson for a non-conference match.
