Volleyball to host Dig Pink Night on Friday

The Bates volleyball team will host Dig Pink Night this Friday in Alumni Gym. The Bobcats take on Tufts for a NESCAC match beginning at 7 p.m.

Bates is accepting donations for the Side-Out Foundation. Funds raised for Side-Out go toward research specifically for patients with metastatic breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease, and the least funded area of research.

"Perspective is so important and as we compete in this match, we are reminded of the precious gift that life is," head coach Emily Hayes said. "We play for family, friends, leaders, and members of our communities who are fighting or who have fought breast cancer. Volleyball is a game that we are fortunate enough to play every day, and this day reminds us to never take that for granted, and to use our platform for so much more."

Every $2,000 raised through Dig Pink allows Side-Out to provide unprecedented analysis to metastatic breast cancer patients and their oncologists. This unique analysis ranks treatment solutions and clinical trials for each patient that can substantially improve the length and quality of their life.
