BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bates College senior
Anna Rozin won two matches in the 64-player singles draw and advanced to the Round of 16, highlighting the ITA Regional Championships for the Bobcat women's tennis team at Bowdoin.
Rozin (Toronto, Ontario) defeated Bowdoin's Kennedi Carter in the opening round of play on Friday by a 6-4, 6-4 score, advancing to face Amy Cui, a 9-16 seeded player from Amherst, in the Round of 32.
Rozin downed Cui in a marathon match, 7-6(5), 2-6, 12-10, to reach second-day play. She faced eighth-seeded Claudia Miller of Middlebury in the Round of 16 on Saturday, falling 6-1, 6-0.
Bates sophomore
Ally Friedman (East Hampton, N.Y.) also played in the A Singles Draw, falling in the first round to MIT's Irene Huang by a 6-4, 7-5 score.
Four Bates players competed in the B Singles Draw and bowed out in the first round: first-year

Friedman and Rozin competed in the Doubles Draw and received a first-round bye as a seeded team, but fell in the Round of 32 to Julia Lendl and Delilah Friedman of Amherst by an 8-3 score. Atwater and Lyon also competed in the draw and fell 8-6 in the opening round to Connecticut College's Brooke Scully and Allison Falvey.
