SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The No. 27 nationally ranked Bates women's tennis team won for the second time in less than 24 hours with a road trip in between, with a 6-3 non-conference victory at Mount Holyoke on Saturday.
Bates (3-2) won two out of three doubles matches and four out of six singles points.
Senior captain Suzanne Elfman (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Anna Rozin (Toronto, Ontario) teamed up to win 8-4 at No. 1 singles, while senior captain Isabelle Rovinski (New York, N.Y.) and junior Haley Washington (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) routed Hannah Middleton and Shweta Kiran Cavale 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Rozin routed Anya Gerasimova 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and first-year Joanna Atwater (Short Hills, N.J.) won in straight sets at No. 6 singles, while Rovinski and senior captain Lauren Hernandez (Chester, N.J.) went to extra sets to claim victories at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
Bates will return to action next Saturday, March 7 at Wellesley, the Bobcats' third straight non-conference opponent from the NEWMAC.
