LEWISTON, Maine - The No. 40 Bates women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to No. 17 Wesleyan University on Sunday morning in NESCAC action at Merrill Gymnasium.

Wesleyan (6-1, 1-1 NESCAC) swept the doubles competition before sophomore Elizabeth Erbafina (Sudbury, Mass.) picked up the lone point for Bates (4-6, 1-1 NESCAC) in number two singles. Erbafina defeated Helen Klass-Warch in three sets, dropping the first set 4-6 before bouncing back for 6-1 win in the second set and a tremendous 10-6 victory in the third set.

First-year Maisie Silverman (Brunswick, Maine) battled tough in singles competition before ultimately falling to Aashli Budhiraja, 6-4, 6-4.

The Bobcats return to action on April 2, when they travel to Wellesley College for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match-up.
