LEWISTON, Maine -- Chandler McGrath and Nicole Peraica had 18 kills apiece as the Bates volleyball team outlasted Hamilton 3-2 (23-25,25-14,29-27,21-25,15-11) in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match Friday night in Alumni Gymnasium.

McGrath added 12 digs and pounded the final two points of the deciding fifth set into the floor as Bates (7-10, 3-5 NESCAC) won for the first time in its past six NESCAC matches. The Bobcats have won three NESCAC matches for the first year since 2004.

Claire Naughton added 13 kills. Bates had a season-high 20 aces, led by setters Jacqueline Forney (7) and Hannah Tardie (6). Forney posted a team-high 32 assists with 10 digs, and Tardie was Bates' third player to register a double-double, with 18 assists and 13 digs.

Augy Silver keyed Bates' victory with superior passing, to go with 32 digs and a season-high seven assists.

Jessica Weston led the Continentals (3-14, 1-6 NESCAC) with 15 kills. Margaret O'Brien posted a match-high eight blocks (two solo) in addition to 10 kills. Kyndal Burdin and Meghan Wilkinson passed out 19 assists apiece, with Wilkinson adding 12 digs. Jamie Granskie had a team-high 22 digs.
