LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates men's squash team improved to 8-7 on the season Friday night with a convincing 7-2 victory over Bowdoin College at the Bates Squash Center. The loss dropped the Polar Bears to 1-12 for the year.
The Bates swept the first five positions, led by junior Ahmed Abdel Khalek (Cairo, Egypt). The All-American remained undefeated, defeating Bowdoin's number one Matthew Cooper in three straight games. Fellow All-American Ahmed Hatata (Alexandria, Egypt) also ran his unbeaten streak with a 3-0 victory in the number two slot.
Bowdoin's Alex Reisley defeated Jason Shrubb for the Polar Bears first point, while Anihrudh Nambiar took the number nine position for Bowdoin's second point. The number seven position saw the Bobcats Carlos Ames (Williamstown, Mass.) battling back from a 2-0 deficit to win over Cyrus Nassikas in five games.
Bates returns to action tomorrow, when the Bobcats host MIT at 5:00 in Lewiston.
