WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The No. 14 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team completed a weekend swing through Western Massachusetts with a 2-1 record, after a 5-4 loss to No. 15 Williams on Sunday.
The Bobcats (6-4) will next host Tufts for Senior Night on Tuesday at 5pm.
Bates won at four of the top five positions on the ladder, but lost two of the day's three five-game matches: Williams' John Shuck prevailed over Bates junior
Caran Arora (Mumbai, India) at No. 6, and at No. 9, Jamie Havran edged Bates sophomore
Spencer Burt (Portland, Ore.), 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8.
On Bates' side, sophomore Darrius Campbell (St. Stephen, S.C.) outlasted Christopher Wilkinson 11-6, 6-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-7 at No. 3.
Also winning their matches for the Bobcats were sophomore Ahmed Hatata (Alexandria, Egypt), 3-1 at No. 1; junior Ahmed Abdel Khalek (Cairo, Egypt), 3-0 at No. 2; and senior Andy Cannon (Greenwich, Conn.), 3-1 at No. 5.
