Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. – Bates College volleyball won the first set but dropped the next three, falling to Hamilton College, 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13), in the NESCAC opener for both teams at Scott Field House on Friday night.
The Bobcats (5-4, 0-1 NESCAC) held onto a late lead in set one before the Continentals (7-3, 1-0 NESCAC) pulled out both of the next two sets with final pushes prior to opening a larger advantage in the last frame.
Sophomore Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) led the Bobcats with 10 kills to go with seven digs and three service aces while junior Brynn Wendel (Boxford, Mass.) tallied nine kills.
Senior Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) registered a double-double with 14 assists and 12 digs, junior Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) posted 11 digs, and first-year Jacqueline Forney (Bloomington, Ind.) compiled 11 assists.
For the Contientals, Erin Casey (15 kills), Erin Donahue (11), and Jessica Weston (10) landed 10 or more kills. Kyndal Burdin amassed a match-high 39 assists while Anna Brown contributed a match-best 19 digs.
Hamilton notched a .310 hitting percentage in the match, including a .452 percentage in the fourth set. Bates hit .144 as a team in the match
Next, Bates plays at Middlebury College tomorrow at 3 p.m. while Hamilton hosts SUNYIT on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
