BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Bates women's tennis team rebounded from the previous day's loss at Wellesley with a 5-4 win at Babson College on Sunday, in the final round of play in the eight-team Nor'Easter Bowl.

Three first-year players made scoring contributions to the No. 29 nationally ranked Bobcats' cause.

Junior Elena Mandzhukova (Lisbon, Portugal) and first-year Elizabeth Erbafina (Sudbury, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-2 win over Alex Freeman and Dina Weick at No. 1 doubles to set the tone for the Bobcats (7-3). Both players went on to score additional points for Bates in singles play: Mandhukova won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 singles over Freeman, while Erbafina posted a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win over Weick at No. 3.

Senior Kristen Doerer (Madison, Conn.) and first-year Kate Rosenthal (Pittsburgh, Pa.) sent Bates into singles play with a 2-1 lead, courtesy of an 8-6 win over Sarah Whitaker and Courtney Fischer at No. 3 doubles.

First-year Olivia Voccola (Falmouth, Maine) came through at No. 6 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Sarah Calmas, as Bates claimed seventh place in the tournament.

Bates returns to NESCAC play on Saturday, April 12, hosting tournament champion Amherst at 5pm.
