LYNN, Mass. – Bates College baseball took a 3-0 lead after the top of the sixth, but Fisher College scored twice in the sixth, five times in the seventh, and twice in the eighth to take a 9-4 win at Fraser Field on Tuesday night.

The Falcons (36-14) used eight pitchers in the victory over the Bobcats (18-13), taking the series after the two teams split a doubleheader at Bates' Leahey Field on April 14.

Bates sophomore Chris Ward (Pasadena, Calif.) went five innings in the start, holding the Falcons without a run on one hit and two walks while striking out two.

For the Falcons, Izzy Velez (2-0) earned the win tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Davidson Peguero, Yhonathan Santelises, and Yuliano Rodriguez each posted two hits while Rodriguez and Santelises charted three and two RBIs respectively.

Senior Kevin Davis (North Andover, Mass.) went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks for the Bobcats while sophomore Evan Czopek (Portland, Ore.) tallied a two-RBI triple.

The Bobcats opened up the game's scoring in the top of the sixth, taking their 3-0 lead. After junior Rockwell Jackson (Fort Worth, Texas) singled, and Davis walked, Czopek hit his triple to left center to plate a pair of runs. Junior Nate Pajka (Douglas, Mass.) followed with a single up the middle to score Czopek for the inning's third run.

The Falcons responded with two runs with two outs in the bottom of the frame to pull within 3-2. Peguero started the rally with a walk before Santelises knocked a single up the middle. Rodriguez then doubled to bring home both runners.

Fisher struck for five runs in the last half of the seventh to pull ahead 7-3. The Falcons sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning with Victor Lebron, Santelises, Rodriguez, and Sander Vargas each notching RBIs in the inning.

Bates brought home a run in the top of the eighth off a passed ball, but the hosts tallied two more runs in the bottom half of the frame to stake themselves to their 9-4 edge. Peguero plated a run with a single to right field, and Santelises drove in a run with a ground out.

Next, Bates will play at No. 5 Southern Maine tomorrow at 4 p.m. prior to playing a doubleheader with No. 9 Tufts on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. with the NESCAC East Division's top seed on the line.
