THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Bates College women's tennis picked up two doubles wins and five singles victories to defeat California Lutheran University, 7-2, on Tuesday evening at the Poulson Tennis Center.

In their spring season opener, the Bobcats (1-0) defeated the Regals (1-2) in a match that took just over four hours.

The duo of junior Elena Mandzhukova (Lisbon, Portugal) and first-year Elizabeth Erbafina (Sudbury, Mass.) took tight a 9-8 (7-2) victory in first doubles, and the combination of senior Lucy Brennan (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore Emma Blakeley (Hope, Maine) captured a victory on court three to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

Mandzhukova followed her doubles win with a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory over Dana Raugust on court No. 1 while Erbafina followed suit with a 6-0, 6-4 win on court three.

Senior Kristen Doerer (Madison, Conn.) and first-years Kate Rosenthal (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Olivia Voccola (Falmouth, Maine) gained singles wins on court Nos. 4, 5, and 6 respectively to round out the scoring for the visitors.

Next, Bates plays at Chapman tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET.
