LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 13 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team dominated visiting and 17th-ranked Brown University in an 8-1 victory Friday evening at the Bates Squash Center.
Bates (6-1) swept the first four positions in the lineup by 3-0 scores en route to its sixth straight win, led off by sophomore All-American Ahmed Abdel Khalek (Cairo, Egypt) 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 victory over Blake Reinson. The Bobcats will travel to Amherst, Mass., on Saturday to take on the host Lord Jeffs at 5pm and George Washington at 2pm.
First-year Ahmed Hatata (Alexandria, Egypt), senior captain Kristian Muldoon (Hamilton, Bermuda) and junior Nabil Saleem (Alpharetta, Ga.) won 3-0 at spots 2, 3 and 4, respectively. First-year Darrius Campbell (St. Stephen, S.C.), sophomore Caran Arora (Mumbai, India), first-year Nima Olumi (Newton, Mass.) and first-year Carlos Ames (Williamstown, Mass.) posted victories at 5, 6, 7 and 8, respectively. Arora and Olumi both won 3-0, Ames surrendered one set and Campbell came back from 2-1 down to beat Tod Holbertson 3-2 at No. 5.
The Bears (2-7) dropped their fourth straight match, receiving their lone point at the No. 9 position.
