Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Bates College volleyball won set three in an eventual 3-1 (25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19) loss at Middlebury College in Pepin Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Bobcats (11-17, 2-8 NESCAC) have earned the No. 8 seed in the NESCAC Championship and a date with No. 1 seed Williams in a quarterfinal match on Friday. The Panthers (18-6, 5-5) have also qualified for the tournament with final times and matchups to be announced by the conference on Sunday.
For the hosts, Amy Hart and Megan Jarchow led all players with 18 kills each with Jarchow hitting .273 in the match. The duo combined for 36 of the Panthers' 52 kills on the day. Both players also recorded double-digit digs with Hart compiling 13 and Jarchow totaling 12.
Two other Middlebury players posted 10 or more digs as Olivia Kolodka made a match-high 18 digs, and Hannah Blackburn had 11. Blackburn also handed out a match-best 43 assists.
For the Bobcats, first-year Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) landed a team-best eight kills, and sophomore Abby Leberman (Concord, N.H.) contributed seven kills.
Defensively for the visitors, sophomore Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) registered a team-high 14 digs.
Junior co-captain and setter Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) notched her sixth double-double of the season and her third in the last four matches with 13 assists and 10 digs. Classmate and fellow captain Miranda Shapiro (New York, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 assists.
