NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bates women's tennis team won two out of three doubles matches in a 6-3 NESCAC defeat at Connecticut College on Saturday.
Sophomore Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) dominated her opponent at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to take Bates' lone singles win. Sophomore Jacqui Holmes (Harvard, Mass.) and junior Meg Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) won 8-3 at first doubles, and a third doubles, junior Erika Blauth (Camden, Maine) and first-year Kristen Doerer (Madison, Conn.) tipped the Camels by a 9-7 score.
The Camels improved to 8-11 (1-5 NESCAC) and dropped the Bobcats to 4-12 (0-6 NESCAC). Bates plays at Tufts on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
