POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Bates College women's tennis team fell 9-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday at Vassar College, despite several close matches.
Bates senior Caryn Benisch (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior Alex Piacquad (Yardley, Pa.) went down at No. 1 doubles in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (3). Piacquad also took her opponent at No. 2 singles to a supertiebreaker before ultimately falling 5-7, 7-6 (5), 10-5.
The Brewers raised their record to 15-4, while the Bobcats fell to 4-9.
Bates will host Colby in a NESCAC matchup on Friday at 4 p.m.
