LEWISTON, Maine -- The Amherst College volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over NESCAC opponent and host Bates College on Saturday, winning by scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-13.
Bates (3-6, 0-2 NESCAC) received a big match from junior Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.), who had 9 kills with only one attack error (.471 attack percentage). First-year Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) added 7 kills, while first-year Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) had 21 assists and 2 aces and junior Kira Kramlich (San Francisco, Calif.) came up with 8 digs.
Cristy Meier led the Lord Jeffs (8-1, 2-0 NESCAC) with 12 kills and three blocks. Other leaders for Amherst included Hannah Wirth with 3 aces, 3 kills and 3 blocks; Rachel Yorke with 11 digs, Katherine Kanoff with 5 kills, 7 digs and 6 aces, Bethany Belisle with 10 digs, Erin Camp with 11 digs and Katherine Jordan with 23 assists.
Bates will next play three matches at the MIT Invitational, against opponents still to be determined, starting on Friday, Sept. 26.
