LEWISTON, Maine -- Tufts University rebounded from dropping the third set to notch a 3-1 (25-17, 25-9, 22-25, 25-11) victory over host Bates College in NESCAC volleyball on Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
The loss drops the Bobcats to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in NESCAC play, while the Jumbos move to 7-0, 1-0 in conference.
Playing at the same time at the Gray Athletic Building, Amherst downed Colby by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-13) score.
Junior Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) and first-year Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) shared the Bobcats' team lead with 7 kills apiece; Leberman added 12 digs and Schow had 2 blocks. Other leaders for Bates included junior Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) with 5 kills, first-year Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) with 22 assists, first-year Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) with 2 service aces and junior Kira Kramlich (San Francisco, Calif.) with 7 digs.
Caitlin Updike led Tufts with 12 kills, while Lexi Nicholas chipped in with 9 kills and 2 blocks. Natalie Goldstein collected 27 digs, and Dena Feiger dished out 34 assists.
Bates will host Amherst College tomorrow at 12 p.m., and Tufts will play Bowdoin at Bates tomorrow at 3 p.m.
