BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bowdoin College women's tennis team hosted their first match of the 2008 calendar year and came away with a 9-0 sweep of Bates in a match played at Farley Field House on Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (9-2) have won eight straight matches and are ranked 15th in the latest Division III poll. Bates dips to 2-7 this season with the loss (2-6 against Division III opponents).
Bates will next play a doubleheader of road matches this Saturday: they'll play at Mount Holyoke College Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a match at Smith College at 2 p.m.
