WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates College women's tennis team scored a 6-3 NESCAC win over Colby College Monday evening at Colby.

Sophomore Alex Piacquad (Yardley, Pa.) and junior captain Caryn Benisch (Huntington, N.Y.) paired up to defeat Colby's Nicole Veilleux and Audrey Jacobsen 8-0 in first doubles, and both women fought to earn tough victories at first and second singles, respectively.

The same went for senior captain Mallika Raghavan (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and senior Liz Fleming (Weston, Conn.), who paired up to win 8-4 in second doubles, before Raghavan won 6-4, 6-1 at third singles and Fleming won in a tiebreaker at No. 4 singles.

Bates (2-4) will next play host to Tufts University on Sunday, March 30, starting at 10:30 a.m.
