WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates College volleyball team scored a 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17) NESCAC win over Hamilton College on Friday night at Colby, moving a step closer to a berth in the NESCAC Championship.

The Continentals (10-20, 0-8 NESCAC) took the first set before the Bobcats (15-15, 2-6 NESCAC) reeled off three straight sets for the win, which puts the Bobcats in eighth place in the conference. The top eight teams qualify for the NESCAC Championship next weekend.

Junior Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.) had a team-high 13 kills and junior Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) added 9 kills, 18 digs and 4 blocks. Senior Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) had 8 kills with 3 blocks, while first-year Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) added 7 kills and 3 blocks. First-year setter Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) handed out 38 assists, and junior Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) had 9 kills.

Bates finishes the regular season tomorrow at Colby with a pair of NESCAC matches against Middlebury (1:30 p.m.) and Williams (4 p.m.).
