HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Bates College volleyball team scored its first NESCAC conference victory of the season with a 3-0 defeat of host Trinity College on Friday night, taking the sets by scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.
"It was a great match, the most complete victory we've had all year long," said head coach Brett Allen.
Bates raises its NESCAC record to 1-3 and evens its overall record at 12-12, while the Bantams fall to 1-6 NESCAC, 10-10 overall.
Junior Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) had a team-high 11 kills and 1 block for Bates. Other statistical leaders included junior Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) with 7 kills and 11 digs; first-year Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) with 6 kills and 2 blocks; junior Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.) with 6 kills; first-year Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) with 12 digs; and first-year Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) with 29 assists and 4 aces. Juniors Kira Kramlich (San Francisco, Calif.) and Brit Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.) led the back row with 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
Bates continues its NESCAC weekend at Trinity on Saturday, with matches against Wesleyan at 11 a.m. and against Connecticut College at 1:30 p.m.
