LEWISTON, Maine -- Bowdoin College came from behind to win the first game and took control the rest of the way for a 3-0 non-league volleyball win over Bates College Wednesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (7-7) won by scores of 30-25, 30-18 and 30-25, dropping the host Bobcats to 2-10. Bates hosts the eight-team Bates Invitational this weekend and will play Rivier and Coast Guard on Friday at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
Bowdoin will also play at the Bates Invitational this weekend, beginning with a Friday match against UMass-Dartmouth.
Bates sophomore Elise Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had her second triple-double in less than a week, with 10 kills, 14 digs and 12 assists to her credit. Other standouts for Bates included sophomore Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) with 10 kills and 10 digs; sophomore Brit Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.) with 20 digs, and senior Brittany Clement (Gobles, Mich.) with 16 assists and three service aces.
First-year middle blocker Stephanie Drumright (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Polar Bears with 10 kills and three blocks. Senior setter Margo Linton (Atherton, Calif.) collected 20 assists and first-year defensive specialist Anna Noucas (Portsmouth, N.H.) added 17 digs.
