CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Bates College volleyball team defeated Emmanuel College 3-0 Saturday to highlight the Bobcats' trip to the MIT Invitational.

Bates followed its morning win over the Saints with a 3-0 loss to Endicott College in the winners' matchup of the tournament's Bronze Bracket.

Sophomore Elise Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and senior Brittany Clement (Gobles, Mich.) paced the Bobcats in their 30-17, 30-21, 30-23 victory over Emmanuel. Edmonson collected seven kills, 17 assists and 14 digs, while Clement had 16 assists and 14 digs.

Sophomore Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) had a team-high 10 kills to go with eight digs. Other contributors included senior Jenn Linton (West Redding, Conn.) with six kills and three blocks; sophomore Brit Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.) with 17 digs; sophomore Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.) with nine kills and six digs; and first-year Phoebe Reed (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with six kills.

In the 30-13, 30-21, 30-13 loss to the Gulls, Leberman collected eight kills and eight digs; Edmonson had seven kills and 11 digs; Clement had 13 assists; and Johnston had 11 digs.

Bates (2-9) will host Bowdoin College in their first home match this season Wednesday night at 7.
