BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates College volleyball team competed in two matches on the first day of the Mid Coast Invitational on Friday at Bowdoin, losing 3-0 to both Keene State College and Brandeis University.
Bates plays two matches at home on the second day of the tournament, which is co-hosted by Bates and Bowdoin. The Bobcats (5-13) will play Gordon College at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match against Wheaton (Mass.) College. Both matches will be played at Alumni Gymnasium.
Sophomore Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) had eight kills and 12 digs for the Bobcats in the 30-22, 30-15, 30-18 loss to Keene State (15-7). Senior Brittany Clement (Gobles, Mich.) added 20 assists and nine digs.
Clement raised her totals to 23 assists and 12 digs in the 3-0 loss to Brandeis (13-4). Leberman added a team-high 12 kills with 10 digs, while sophomore Brit Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.) chipped in with 16 digs.
