BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bowdoin College volleyball team swept Bates for the second consecutive match on Wednesday, 30-19, 30-15, 30-26.
Both the Polar Bears (3-1 NESCAC) and Bobcats (6-8 overall, 1-3 NESCAC) will play at the Bates Invitational next weekend in Lewiston.
Amanda Leahy posted a team-high 13 kills and three aces, while Erin Prifogle added 11 kills to pace the Polar Bear attack. Defensively, Jenna Diggs collected 16 digs and earned 25 assists.
Senior Katie Graeff totaled 20 assists for the Bobcats, while first-years Avery Masters (eight kills, three blocks) and Tess Dokus (five kills) led the Bates attack.
The victory marked the second time Bowdoin has defeated its NESCAC rivals this season. The Polar Bears earned a 3-0 win just last Saturday at the MIT Invitational. The teams will play twice more, with their next meeting coming this Saturday at 2 p.m.
