LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College volleyball team defeated the visiting University of Southern Maine on Tuesday night in straight games, 30-13, 30-21, 30-17, in a non-league matchup.

The Bobcats raised their record to 6-3 overall. The Huskies have lost five straight and stand at 3-5.

Bates senior Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) had 16 assists, six services aces and two blocks. Sophomore Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) notched a team-high six kills and four blocks. First-year Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) added five kills, and junior Jenn Linton (Redding, Conn.) had three kills and seven aces.

Southern Maine sophomore Shannon Stoll (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led the Huskies with 10 kills and 11 assists. First-year Danielle Netland (Cumberland, Maine) added eight kills, while sophomore Allison White (Northboro, Mass.) had a team-high 13 digs.

Bates next plays at the MIT Invitational this weekend.
